Hours, the track and the floor
Published hours:
- Sunday to Thursday: 9:30 am to 3:00 am
- Friday and Saturday: 9:30 am to 4:00 am
This is one difference from River Cree, where the casino floor and slots are open 24 hours daily. Century Mile closes overnight.
The floor has over 600 slot machines and VLTs. All table games are electronic: roulette, baccarat and blackjack in a social gaming space called the Replay Arena. Century Mile is licensed as a Racing Entertainment Centre, not a casino. A 2021 application to convert the licence and add ten table games was denied, and a request for judicial review was dismissed (reported December 2025). River Cree runs live table games and a poker room.
The track is a full mile. Thoroughbred and Quarter Horse racing runs roughly May to September. Standardbred (harness) racing runs in fall and winter. Off-track betting covers all forms of pari-mutuel wagering, with racing to bet on every day of the week. The 97th Canadian Derby was set for August 22, 2026.
On race days, according to the venue's 2026 race-day page:
- 8 to 10 races, over 3 to 4 hours.
- Outdoor apron seating is first-come, first-served.
- The grandstands are not wheelchair accessible.
- No outside food or drink. Dogs are not allowed on the apron.
- Reservations for The Finish Line restaurant open the Monday before each race day.
By car, and by the airport chain
By car: from the QEII, take the exit onto Airport Road, then take the first right. Parking is free on race days. The venue does not publish parking terms for other days. At River Cree, self parking and valet are free.
Without a car, the route has three links:
- Capital Line LRT to Century Park.
- ETS Route 747 from Century Park Transit Centre to the airport terminal. It runs 7 days a week, about 4:10 am to 12:30 am, every 30 to 60 minutes. It has its own regional fare, not the city fare. As of February 1, 2026, a one-way trip is $6 in cash or on Arc. Details are on the ETS airport page.
- The airport's free, on-demand On-Airport Transit shuttle. Call 780-890-8983. It picks up outside Door 9 on the Arrivals level. Its hours are not published, so check before a late return.
From the Leduc side, Leduc Transit Route 10 runs Leduc to Nisku and the airport and connects with Route 747 and the shuttle.
What sits near the track
- Premium Outlet Collection: over 100 outlet stores in an enclosed building. The airport shuttle serves it.
- RedTail Landing Golf Club, east of the track site.
- RAD Torque Raceway, a motorsport facility in Airport City.
- Renaissance Edmonton Airport Hotel, linked to the terminal by a heated pedway.
- Fairfield by Marriott Edmonton International Airport, a 135-room hotel.
The facts do not list a hotel at Century Mile itself. River Cree has one on site. For an overnight at the home end, see Staying overnight.
What visitors tend to mention
Live racing is the main draw, often paired with a meal. Derby day comes up as a highlight, though some found the paid Derby table packages poor value.
Staff get frequent praise for being friendly. Slow bar and table service at busy times is a common complaint. The race-day buffet and the prime rib come up often, with opinions split on the buffet. The floor is described as clean, with plenty of machines. Some visitors are let down that there are no live tables.
Before you go
Gambling in Alberta is for adults 18 and over. Alberta's casino rules ask staff to check government-issued photo ID from anyone who appears to be under 25, so bring it.
The hours above are the venue's own. Holiday hours are not listed, so check the venue's page or call before a holiday trip. Century Mile is on Winner's Edge, the province-wide program that River Cree also promotes.
Alberta's self-exclusion program can cover casinos and racing entertainment centres. For support, call or text 211, or call the Addiction Helpline (Recovery Alberta) at 1-866-332-2322, 24/7 and toll-free. More is on Help and limits.
