Where the road ends
The destination is River Cree Resort & Casino, 300 East Lapotac Blvd, Enoch, Alberta. Enoch Cree Nation lies just west of, and adjacent to, the City of Edmonton.
The resort sits at the corner of Whitemud Drive and Winterburn Road. Keep that corner in mind. Both routes below finish there.
The casino is for adults. In Alberta, the gambling age is 18.
Route one: Whitemud Drive
This is the simplest line on the map. Directions posted on the venue's Ticketmaster page read:
- Follow Whitemud Drive west past Anthony Henday Drive.
- Turn left onto Winterburn Road.
- Take your first right.
The resort is on the corner of Whitemud Drive and Winterburn Road. If you come from southwest or south-central Edmonton, this is usually the natural road.
Route two: Stony Plain Road and the Henday
Another set of published directions starts downtown:
- Take Jasper Avenue west to 102 Avenue and turn left.
- Merge with Stony Plain Road and continue to Highway 216 (Anthony Henday).
- Travel south on Highway 216 to the Whitemud Drive West exit.
The resort is on the left. This route suits drivers already near the west end of downtown or on Stony Plain Road.
From Edmonton International Airport, the same exit applies. Take Highway 2 north to Highway 216, then follow 216 to the Whitemud Drive West exit. The venue describes itself as about 25 minutes from the airport.

How far it is
No official distance from downtown has been published. Unofficial estimates do not agree, partly because they measure from different starting points.
In practical terms, it is a short drive within the metro area. Your own map app will give the best figure for your starting address and the traffic on the day.
Parking at the casino entrance
Parking is free. The venue's July 2025 hotel overview lists complimentary self parking, plus valet parking through the Casino entrance.
The venue does not publish a height limit, accessible parking details or EV charging on its site. If any of these matter for your trip, call general inquiries at 780-484-2121 before you go.
Winter on the road
The Henday and Whitemud are major freeways, and they carry winter like any other Edmonton road. Expect snow, ice and short daylight from late fall into spring.
- Leave extra time, especially on show nights when traffic builds near the venue.
- Check conditions before you set out, and again before you head home late.
- Keep a scraper, warm layers and a charged phone in the car.
Planning the way home
The drive home is part of the trip. Decide how you will make it before the first stop, not after the last one.
Do not drive impaired. If you plan to drink, arrange another way back:
- Designated driver. During concerts and events, the venue gives designated drivers free unlimited fountain pop or water.
- Stay the night. The resort has a hotel. See Staying overnight.
- Shuttle and transit. The resort runs a free shuttle to West Edmonton Mall, about every 30 minutes. For the schedule, call 780-930-2562. Details are on Without a car.
Set a time and money limit before you leave. If gambling stops feeling like a night out, call or text 211, or call the Addiction Helpline (Recovery Alberta) at 1-866-332-2322, 24/7. More on Help and limits.
